Free Friday #2

Happy 92nd Birthday to Joan!!!

Early in the week, Karen (pictured right) had me over to clean her mother Joan’s (center) driveway.

During that cleaning I learned that it was going to be Joan’s 92nd birthday that same week! By the time I had finished the cleaning I had also noticed a couple spots around the house that definitely needed some cleaning.

After a couple days I decided that Joan would be the perfect candidate for a Free Friday and I offered to clean her house for free.

She accepted the offer and I completed the job as promised. I told her that I do not accept money as that would defeat the purpose of the Free Fridays, and she had something else in mind.

She explained to me how she wanted to help the community as well and pay it forward as she handed me an envelope reading “Patriot Pressure Washing Community Fund”. In it was $100 to help cover my expenses so that I can continue to help more people. It was an awesome gesture.

However, that $100 will never be spent. The bill Joan donated to help the community is pinned to my office wall as a reminder of my commitment to her to continue helping the community. Spending the $100 on expenses would have helped a few more neighbors. But the constant reminder of my commitment to Joan and the community will help hundreds as we continue this every week.
